The Associated Press reports that Brett Blomme, Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s juvenile judge pled guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography. He looking at possibly facing five years and will be sentenced in December.

Milwaukee is the #2 hotspot of human trafficking in the entire world so these charges are especially concerning because Brett Blomme had power over America’s most vulnerable children that passed through his courtroom. Those that are interested can check out a 2016 report, “A Crime in Plain Sight” and other City Reports from Milwaukee to find out just how bad the problem really is.

Between October and November, the Department of Justice found that Blomme had uploaded child pornography through the Kik messaging application 27 times. He faces 7 counts of possession of child porn but will likely reach a “federal plea deal to resolve all state and federal charges for “any known criminal conduct”.

Blomme, a liberal challenger was elected to Milwaukee’s juvenile court in 2020 after defeating former Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s appointee, conservative Circuit Judge Paul Dedinsky. He said, “I am the progressive alternative”. Shortly after he won the election special agents from Wisconsin’s Division of Criminal Investigation determined that he was using the name “dommasterbb” to upload videos and images containing child pornography.

DCI requested a warrant saying that 27 videos and images of children being sexually abused were uploaded and that at least two files were uploaded to a Milwaukee County government building. A Milwaukee County reserve judge signed the search warrant.

Blomme grew up on a farm in Missouri and is openly gay. He is married to Christopher Verhaeghe, an assistant director of the orientation at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Brett Blomme is a graduate of Marquette University. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, and director of the Cream City Foundation appointed Brett Blomme to head the City of Milwaukee’s zoning appeals board. Blomme was the Major Giving Director at the Wisconsin AIDS Resource Center and is an LGBTQ activist. He also worked for the State Public Defender’s Office from 2011 to 2015.

The Department of Justice, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, and other agencies including police departments in Wauwatosa, Cottage Grove, and Brookfield, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, and the Minnesota Office of Criminal Learning conducted the investigations.
