200 teens, parents, and police fight at Baton Rouge alternative school

Ten teens were arrested Wednesday during a fight that involved about 200 students and parents on the campus of the EBR Readiness Alternative School in Baton Rouge. It is unclear what the fights were about but security officers report that the disturbance happened in the courtyard outside of the gym around 8:15 a.m. The Associated Press reports that an officer was punched in the face and “possibly biten”. The officer was transported to a hospital with a broken hip and head lacerations.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on a count of battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace with force/violence and resisting arrest.

Five teens ages 16 and 17 were arrested on counts of disturbing the peace by fistic encounter.

An 18-year-old girl was arrested on counts of unlawful disruption of the operation of a school and resisting arrest.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested for disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

Two boys ages 17 and 15 were arrested on second-degree battery and aggravated battery, respectively, of a police officer.

WAFB STAFF published videos of the brawl leading the NAACP to release a statement.
