A jury decides Nikolas Cruz’s fate.

Update: The jury for the Nikolas Cruz cases did find him guilty but did not recommend the death penalty. The prosecution requested time to allow victims to express themselves and be heard before sentencing. The judge set the date for the victim’s to express themselves before sentencing on November 1st. The judge scolded defense attorneys this week for abruptly closing the defense without ever calling 40 witnesses. Jury members would have been sent home but the judge scolded the defense attorneys saying that she had never seen such a level of unprofessionalism. The trial will resume September 27.

They say Nikolas is a demon, others are not so sure. A jury will decide if Nikolas Cruz gets the death penalty. Nikolas Cruz now 23 years old never had a chance at life. He was born into a rough situation and bounced around in state placements. Then the Parkland shooting happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018. News media said that Nikolas Cruz was a disgruntled student that had multiple discipline problems and had been expelled when he opened fire killing 14 students and 3 staff. Many of the witnesses have died.

He pled guilty in October 2021 to murdering 17 people at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. A jury of 7 men and 5 women was selected this week to consider whether Cruz deserves the death penalty or life behind bars. The sentencing trial is expected to last for four months.
