Police went to Harmony Montgomery’s home 13 times in 5 months. The majority of calls made were for domestic violence, animal, and building complaints. A neighbor contacted authorities on Aug. 5 of that year with concerns “about a young child living at that address”. The house was up for auction at the time and the caller claimed there was “no electricity, just a small generator and there is trash everywhere”, reports Boston,com. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the 9-year-old adopted girl referred to as ‘Jane Doe’ whom the biological mother was able to rescue after she turned to social media for help locating her daughter. A class-action lawsuit filed against David Wade Correctional Center in Claiborne Parish over inadequate mental health care and improper use of solitary confinement finally goes to trial. The lawsuit was filed by Roderick and Solange MacArthur Justice Center and Disability Rights Louisiana (formerly known as The Advocacy Center). They claim that “prison officials do not properly screen, diagnose or treat mental illness for prisoners held in solitary confinement — also referred to as ‘extended lockdown’ or ‘restrictive housing’ — where they are held in their cell for 23 hours a day and rarely allowed social interaction”.
