East Helena Police Chief William Harrington pled guilty to a federal child pornography charge and was cleared of sexual assault allegation.
“The Montana Attorney General’s Office Division of Criminal Investigation has determined that the sexual assault allegations against former East Helena Police Chief William Harrington are unsubstantiated”, the Billings Gazette reported. The Montana police chief resigned in March after an allegation of sexual abuse and was found guilty of distributing child porn in December.
An FBI agent found a sexually explicit image of a 10-year-old girl and later more images of child porn on Chief Harrington’s computer. He was originally charged with three counts of child porn but was only found guilty of one charge. Other charges will be dismissed because of the plea deal.
The police chief faces a mandatory minimum five years to 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to a lifetime of supervised release.

th prosecutor agreeing to dismiss the other sexual assault charges for a distribution charge is what gets me. Why? I wonder if those girls or boys will ever have anyone to turn to.
